Beginners Guide to Fragrances

Shopping for fragrance can be confusing at best or overwhelming at worst. Not only are there top notes, middle notes, and bottom notes, but whole classes of scents. What is more, once you have decided on a scent, another decision must be made: perfume, eau de parfum, eau de toilette or cologne?

Fragrances are available in perfume, eau de parfum, eau de toilette, or cologne form. The main differentiating factor of these is the concentration of aromatic compounds in a solvent – that is, how much fragrance is in the formula’s composition. The more actual perfume concentrate it contains, the longer the scent will last on your skin, and the more expensive the product. Following is a breakdown of these categories.

Perfume

Perfume, also referred to as perfume extract, is the most concentrated formulation, and is usually the most expensive. It contains 15-30% aromatic compounds. Due to its high number of aromatic compounds, it also tends to last the longest when applied to the skin. It is usually sold in small bottles of 1 ounce or less.

Eau de Parfum

Eau de parfum, also called eau de perfume, is the next most concentrated formula, and one of the most popular purchases. It consists of 10-15% aromatic compounds.

Eau de Toilette

Eau de toilette is also a popular choice, and is less expensive than the perfume or parfum formulations, although its scent will not last as long when applied to the skin. Eau de toilette contains 5-20% aromatic compounds.

Cologne, or Eau de Cologne

Eau de Cologne originated in Cologne, Germany. Today, it is a generic term that defines a class of scented formulations by its typical concentration of about 2-5%. Cologne products are available for either men or women, and are sometimes mistaken for aftershave, which is actually a formula containing moisturizer, an antiseptic agent, and perfume. In addition, aftershave can be a gel, lotion, or liquid.

Tester

Testers are even more discounted than the fancy boxed versions and are great if you do not have a need for the fancy box. Testers are 100% authentic, fresh, and completely full just like the original fragrance, however they are meant for the counter in a department store. Testers often come in a plain white box but sometimes they do not have a cap or a box. The savings on the packaging means you save even more!

For any perfume concentration, be sure to keep the bottle tightly sealed and stored in a cool, dry place away from windows or direct sunlight or heat sources to maximize its shelf life. For best results store opened bottles inside their boxes. Fragrances usually last three years from the date they were manufactured.

The difference is simply the amount or concentration of oils in the fragrance. Eau de parfum has a higher concentration than eau de toilette, making it a stronger fragrance. There is also pure perfume, which has the highest concentration, and eaude cologne, which has the lowest concentration of oils.

There is absolutely no difference in the fragrance. The difference is in the method of application only. However, a spray bottle, being sealed all the time, may have a longer shelf life. Making the decision between spray and splash is entirely a matter of personal preference.

After Shave Lotion will usually sting as well as help close the pores after shaving. After Shave Balm is soothing to the skin. After Shave Gel also soothes the skin but cools the skin as well and relieves razor burn.

Fragrances are comprised of many different scents; these scents are called "notes."

Top notes are very light and last just a few minutes (5-10 minutes). Middle notes become apparent in about 15 minutes after application. These can last up to an hour or more. Bottom notes are the heavier ingredients. These last the longest, usually for several hours.

Keep all Fragrances in a cool, dry area, and away from windows as sunlight can unbalance the various ingredients. An opened bottle should be kept in its box to insure a longer shelf life.

We stock thousands of fragrances, many of these have been discontinued. Our buyers travel the globe purchasing entire inventories of hard to find or discontinued fragrances to store in our temperature and humidity-controlled warehouse.

To get your fragrance spraying again please follow these instructions below:

Hold one finger against the spray nozzle. Use your other finger to pump the spray 10-15x. Remove your finger from the spray nozzle. Pump the spray another 10-15x as needed. Allow the fragrance bottle to settle for 5-10 minutes.

Your fragrance bottle should be fully functional now! If you are still having problems, you can repeat steps 1-5.

Beginners Guide to Hair Purchasing

This is adding hair to your own hair by means of fusion (strand by strand), weaving, braiding, bonding, seamless, clips and more. There are many variations to all these techniques and stylists call these by different names. I will be educating you on the most popular terms. Extensions are usually applied by a stylist, but many customers are doing this at home. Human hair extensions can be cut, curled, and styled.

Strands of hair which have been sewn along one edge to create a line of hair.

Hand Tied: The wefts have been precut to approximately 10 inch pieces and have been sewn by hand to make the smallest wefting possible for the most invisible look. Pieces should not be cut, or they will unravel. The smallness of the Hand tied weft is great for weaving. Hand tied hair can be cut from the weft to use for fusions.

Regular weft: this hair is not cut into pieces but is one continuous weft that can be cut. The weft is slightly larger than the hand tied. Our remi hair regular weft is also a very flat nice small weft. Hint: To help against shedding after you cut the weft add some bonding glue on the edges.

Hair Bundles

Full Sew In - 3 Bundles / Partial Sew In - 2 Bundles / Sew-In With Closure - 2 Bundles + Closure.

For 22” & Up and Big Hair Lovers additional bundles may be needed.

Braidless Sew-In: 1 Bundle for Natural Look / 2 Bundles For Extra Fullness.

2 - 3 Packs = 40 - 60 Pieces for Natural Look

Tape Hair: 6 - 12 months.

Clip Ins: 1 year to several years based on frequency of wear.

Closures and Frontals: 2 - 4 months based on care.

Hott Links:

Textured or Ethnic Hair - minimal to 0 slippage, remain until removed, 3-4 months recommended max time.

Straight Hair - excessive slippage, 7-14 days, can be re-installed.

You must care for your hair extensions. This protects your natural hair and your investment.

AT NIGHT

Always put your hair in a braid or wear a satin bonnet / hair net to keep your hair from tangling and matting at night.

SHAMPOOING
Use Quality Hair Products. Do Not Use Cheap Products on your Investment. Use A Moisturizing Shampoo & Massage into a lather and rinse thoroughly. Shampoo from root to end gently. A second wash is not necessary but is optional. Remember the less you shampoo the better to avoid continuous stress on your roots. When shampooing be gentle. Do not scrub vigorously. Use the tips of your fingers and rotate in soft circular motions with less tension on scalp area where your extensions are bonded.

Follow With Moisturizing Conditioner.

Condition from mid-shaft to ends only. Rinse thoroughly after 10 minutes and towel blot hair. Avoid putting conditioner on the extension bond or roots.

Use A Setting Solution or Detangler

Before drying the hair, it is highly recommended to sit under a hooded dryer for at least an hour to fully dry braids to avoid moldy smell from hair being left wet over time.  If using a handheld dryer, use a comb attachment.

Style As Desired.

Avoid heavy alcohol-based products. Hair Sprays are okay for styling occasionally. Also avoid heavy oils and greasy hair products. They weigh down on the hair and cause the hair to separate.

Lightweight, Smooth flowing Hair is Best!

EXERCISERS

Place your hair back in a ball or ponytail while exercising.

Try Wet & Wavy hair extensions for that flawless look while burning the Calories.

SWIMMERS

Wear a swimming cap when possible and place a small amount of conditioner on your hair before swimming so that the hair is protected while in the water.

CURLY HAIR

Finger your hair every day or use a rattail comb to keep the hair separated.   Use mousse to keep your hair refreshed every day. Remember with some curl patterns if you flat iron or color the hair you will loosen the curl pattern slightly.

CLOSURES

Be gentle with your closures. Do not Brush or Shampoo Vigorously. You will cause it to thin & lift if you handle it too rough.

LACE WIGS

It is best to remove your extensions before shampooing and reapply after. Shampooing your unit once a month is recommended.

Fusion, or Pre bonded Hair - This is a process done strand by strand in small sections. Using heated adhesive sticks and glue gun made for hair extensions, extension hair is added directly to your own hair. Hair can be bought already cut, weft removed and pre tipped with adhesive, a purging tool is used to warm the adhesive and apply it to your hair. Your hair lies over the top for a natural look. We sell a starter kit with glue gun video and all items you need to use a gun and adhesive sticks method and we sell pre bonded hair with the tool.

Weaving - This is a process which you create a corn row or track around the head and close to the scalp.  Extension hair is sewn on the tracks. Your own hair lays over the tracks for a natural look.

Bonding - This is the easiest method. A bonding glue is applied onto the weft of the extension hair and then applied at the root of your hair. This is a temporary method. We sell bonding glue and remover.

Clip ins - Clips have been sewn onto human extensions hair. You may clip these in and out yourself. Clips can be purchased from us and sewn on a ¼ pound of hair yourself or you may order Beautiful clip in extensions made by Raquel Welch already done.

Micro-Links - This method uses no glue, no heat, no remover and also no damage to the hair. Small circular links are used. Your own hair is pulled through in small pieces with a tool that looks like a crochet hook then the pre tipped hair is put inside the link and it is squeezed tight. To remove use pinchers to open the link. Hair can be reused. Weaves can be done with links. Make a row of links and sew extension hair to the links. You can also use a link in certain spots that may be lifting to hold it down or make it to your next appointment. Links are also used to make a circle and sew down a hairpiece or to hold down wigs. The plus is no glue and no heat, and they are exceedingly small, so they lay flat and are hard to see.

Tape on seamless hair extensions - This is a hot new product. The wefted part of the hair is made from a polyurethane thin flat strip that is already pre-taped with a stick double sided tape. You just pull the backing off and apply the hair. Easy to do yourself. It lasts a few days, or you can add the adhesive we sell, and it lasts several months. Undetectable as the hair lies flat to the head no one knows you are wearing them if they touch your head. They are amazingly comfortable to wear and easy to apply.

When choosing a color to match your own hair, choose a color that matches your hair from the middle to the ends. Never buy hair the color of your outgrowth as that is always darker. Our hair comes in many beautiful shades to choose from. All user devices (computer, tablet, phone etc.) show colors differently. A hair color ring might be the best option in solidifying the correct color for your purposes. That is the only real guarantee for 100% certainty.

The great thing about our human hair is it comes with the perm in it and you can choose your color. Because the hair has been processed and sterilized, we do not advise doing any more chemical treatments on it as it can easily be ruined or not come out the color you want. If you do decide to it is best to use a semi-permanent color or color conditioner and not peroxide.
